I don’t get that either. It doesn’t seem like a remarkable composition by any stretch.

It’s a famous picture because the photographer is famous and has managed to bamboozle people into thinking his photos are worth that kind of money.

Then again, it give me (and aspiring photographers the world over) hope that my (our) photos may one day be worth something more than a spot in one of my (our) photo albums or on my (our) wall or blog.

Therein lies the true art, like Andy Warhol’s Brillo boxes wrapped in brown paper, for which he commanded $50,000 each.

I thought Warhol was the greatest fraud to come out of Pennsylvania, until yesterday.

Ordinarily I do not look for that link. But this one seemed an enormous disconnect.
